What happens during your annual boiler service?

1

Initial Inspection

During a boiler servicing, your appointed boiler engineer will thoroughly look at the overall condition of your boiler to assess its functionality.

We will inspect the most important aspect of the boiler and its controls: safety. The controls regulate the flow of water and fuel so it’s vital they are working and are safe to use. We also check for leaks and obvious faults with the outside of your boiler.

2

Under the Hood

Once we’ve checked the outside of the boiler, we will pop off the outer casing and look through the internal components.

We’ll carry out a gas pressure test to measure the pressure of your boiler and make sure it’s functioning at the right amount. Other tests we carry out include a flue test. This will check the CO and combustion ratio to ensure they are at a safe amount and not emitting an excess of carbon monoxide gas.

3

Clean Boiler

Lastly, we will clean any components of the boiler that need a tidy up and check for lime scale or debris.

Once everything is in order, we will pop the outer case back on the boiler and give one last check. Before we leave, we will provide all relevant information about the boiler servicing that you can keep for your own records.

They operate on-demand, supplying heat using a heating element as  water flows through.

Our expertise extends to repairing all types of System Boilers, whether they are a vented or unvented system. Common Boiler Repairs We Undertake In Lincoln

Numerous factors can cause a boiler breakdown, and it’s vital to address these issues promptly by calling a qualified gas engineer. Attempting to fix your boiler or central heating system can turn a small issue into a life-threatening situation very quickly. Here are some common boiler repairs  we undertake in Lincoln:

Kettling: Over time, sludge and limescale that build-up in a boiler can lead to kettling. This issue obstructs water flow within the heat exchanger, causing overheating and loud noises. A power flush is recommended to address this problem as it can shorten your boilers lifespan if left untreated.

Leaking: Leaking boilers should never be ignored, as leaks can lead to short circuits and system failures. Our engineers can address leaking issues by replacing faulty seals or pressure valves,  ensuring correct system pressure.

Boiler Keeps Switching Off: If your boiler frequently switches off, it may be due to low pressure,  a blockage in the system, or a faulty pump. Our engineers can assess and address these issues,  ensuring your boiler operates efficiently.

Old Thermostats: Unreliable or faulty thermostats can disrupt boiler operation. If an old thermostat is inaccurate or has failed, a replacement will resolve the issue and restore your boiler’s functionality.

Pilot Light Keeps Going Out: A consistently extinguishing pilot light may indicate a gas supply issue or a malfunctioned thermocouple. Our engineers can assess and replace faulty components to ensure your pilot light remains lit.

Low Pressure: Your boiler requires adequate pressure to function efficiently. A lack of pressure,  often caused by a leak or a faulty pressure relief valve, can be addressed by our engineers to restore optimal pressure levels.

Unusual Noises: Unusual noises in your boiler or central heating system may be a sign of underlying faults, such as failing pumps, excess air, or low pressure. Prompt assessment by our engineers can prevent these issues from escalating into major breakdowns and costly repair bills.
